Jamal Story


Jamal Story

A Los Angeles native, Jamal began serious training there at the Lula Washington Dance Theatre. He holds dual degrees in Dance Performance and TV/Radio Communications from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where he performed with Dallas Black Dance Theater and Fort Worth/Dallas Ballet among others. Later, Jamal danced with Donald Byrd/theGroup, Madonna’s 2001 Drowned World Tour, Complexions, and (as an aerialist and dancer) Cher’s Living Proof: The Farewell Tour. He has since originated The Color Purple and Motown: the Musical on Broadway, serving as a dance captain on both. An avid choreographer, Jamal has set works on several companies, taught as a full time professor ad interim at the University of Missouri Kansas City, and sits on the NY Board of SAG-AFTRA as co-chair of the unions National Dance Committee. In addition to his dance captainship on Cher’s Dressed to Kill Tour, Jamal continues his advocacy for educating young artists about the changing landscape of dance. Jamal’s second book, Toss in the Ether, is a dance novel released this past summer and available on his website jamalstory.com/tossthestory in paperback and ebook.

Amelia Burkhardt


Amelia Burkhardt

Amelia was born and raised in Thousand Oaks, CA. Throughout her training, she was on competition teams, winning many first place and overall soloist awards. Amelia was selected for numerous scholarships from competitions and conventions all over California, including a one year scholarship to Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles. Some of Amelia's credits include being a featured female dancer on The Hello Kitty Friendship Festival National Tour, Nickelodeon's Big Time Rush, Promo for Disney's 'Camp Rock 2', FOX 'Mobbed', Good Day L.A., and the Los Angeles Clippers. Her regional theatre credits include: Beauty and The Beast and Peter Pan. She has also worked alongside of celebrities Selena Gomez, Rosario Dawson, Jane Fonda, Wilmer Valderrama, Perez Hilton, Howie Mendel. She has danced for famous LA choreographers, Tabitha and Napoleon Dumo, Mandy Moore, Matt Cady, and Beau Fournier . She was a featured dancer and one of the assistant production coordinators for the world famous dance show, Choreographers' Carnival . She was a company member and assistant for the popular LA based company, Mischief Makers. They are invited to perform all over the country, including Hawaii, Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Etc. Amelia also travels the United States judging studio dance competitions for Starpower, Imagine, and Revolution Talent Competitions. Over her professional career, Amelia has been teaching at several dance studios, high schools, and universities on the East and West Coast, including UCLA, Cal State Northridge, Cal State Channel Islands, and University of Delaware. She currently is a traveling faculty member for Liberate Artists, teaching and choreographing alongside Comfort Fedoke, Misha Gabriel, Lauren Froderman, Mollee Gray, Etc. Amelia resides in New York City to continue to pursue her dance and teaching career.

Kenny Hernandez


Kenny Hernandez

Kenny Hernandez was born and raised in Bronx, NY. Kenny has been dancing since he was 13 years old. He started off as a freestyle dancer, but then branched out and started to learn more, not only about freestyling, but also in choreography as well. He started training in all fundamentals of Hip Hop in his first company, Hip Hop Theory The Company. There he studied all of his foundations of popping, breaking, waving, and commercial choreography. Kenny then went on to perform for shows and competitions such as Prelude Urban Dance Competition and World of Dance. Kenny is a Traveling Faculty Member for Liberate Artists and has taught alongside Ivan Koumaev (Justin Timberlake), Comfort Fedoke (So You Think You Can Dance All Star), Randi and Hefa (Beyonce), and Lauren Froderman (So You Think You Can Dance Winner) to name a few. Kenny strives to bring out the best in each dancer and loves seeing growth in his students. When Kenny is not teaching, he still loves to train, especially in EXPG Professional Gym and Broadway Dance Center in New York City.
